FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need any experience to start BJJ?
No. Complete beginners are welcome. Coaches will guide you through the basics and help you build confidence safely. You can also read our First Steps guide before you start.
Do I need a Gi to start?
No. You can start in comfortable sports clothing. If you join through one of our pathway options, selected plans include a free BJJ Gi.
What’s the difference between Gi and NoGi?
Gi uses the traditional uniform and grips, while NoGi is faster paced and usually trained in rashguards and shorts. Both are useful, and we offer both. You can read our full guide here: Gi vs NoGi BJJ: What’s The Difference?
Can children train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
Yes. We offer separate youth options for Kids & Teens Gi BJJ and Kids & Teens NoGi BJJ.
Can I train BJJ for MMA?
Yes. BJJ is a major part of MMA. Our Gi and NoGi classes help develop control, escapes, submissions and positional understanding. You can also view our MMA classes.
Is BJJ good for fitness?
Yes. BJJ improves strength, movement, conditioning and problem-solving without feeling like a normal gym workout.
How much does BJJ membership cost?
Membership depends on age, pathway and eligibility for discounts. You can view our current options on the Pricing page.
Is there a free trial available?
Yes. You can start with a 7 Day Free Trial before choosing the best membership or pathway option.
How often should I train BJJ as a beginner?
Most beginners do well starting with 2–3 sessions per week. You can view class times on our full timetable.
Can teens train with adults?
Some older teens may be allowed into adult sessions depending on age, maturity and coach approval.
