THIS IS
PRAETORIAN MMA.
Built on discipline, respect and the belief that anyone can improve in the right environment.
WHO WE ARE
Praetorian MMA was built on the belief that martial arts should do more than simply teach techniques. The environment you train in matters. The people around you matter. The standards matter.
From complete beginners taking their first class to experienced competitors preparing for events, our goal has always remained the same — create a structured, respectful and supportive place where people can improve properly.
We are not interested in shortcuts, inflated egos or creating an intimidating atmosphere. We believe in hard work, consistency, accountability and helping people become better versions of themselves both on and off the mats.
Praetorian MMA is made up of coaches, members, parents, competitors, military personnel, emergency service workers and complete beginners all training alongside one another with the same shared respect for the room and the people in it.

THE PRAETORIAN WAY.
The Praetorian Way is built around standards, respect and personal growth. We believe the environment people train in directly affects the type of person they become, which is why culture inside the gym matters just as much as the techniques being taught on the mats.
We expect effort, accountability and respect from everybody who walks through the doors regardless of age, experience or ability. Coaches continue learning, experienced members help beginners and younger students are encouraged to lead by example both inside and outside the gym.
We are not interested in creating an intimidating atmosphere built around ego or arrogance. We want people to feel welcomed, supported and challenged in the right way. Some members train to compete, others train for confidence, fitness, structure or personal development, but everybody shares the same room and the same standards.
The goal has always been to create something long term. A place where people can improve properly, build genuine friendships, push themselves physically and mentally and become part of an environment they are proud to represent.
THE PEOPLE LEADING THE ROOM.
Coaches carry responsibility. They do more than show techniques. They shape the atmosphere of the room, influence confidence levels and help create the environment people train inside every single week.
At Praetorian MMA, every coach brings different experience, personality and coaching strengths to the mats whilst still working within the same standards and expectations that define the club. Some specialise in competition preparation, others in technical development, striking, strength and conditioning or helping beginners settle into the environment properly.
We believe good coaching is structured, honest and individual. A beginner taking their first class needs guidance and reassurance. An experienced competitor needs technical detail, accountability and preparation. Different people require different approaches, but everybody deserves proper attention, communication and respect.
Our coaching team works across children’s classes, teen programmes, adult sessions and competition training with the aim of helping people improve long term rather than chasing short term results or empty motivation.
As the website develops further, individual coach profile pages will be added to give greater insight into each coach, their background, their coaching style and the role they play within Praetorian MMA.

MORE THAN A GYM.
Whilst martial arts and performance remain at the centre of what we do, Praetorian MMA has always been about more than simply training sessions and competition preparation. The people inside the room matter.
Over the years the club has grown into a community made up of children, teenagers, adults, military personnel, emergency service workers, parents, beginners and experienced martial artists all training alongside one another under the same roof.
Some people arrive looking to compete. Others arrive looking for confidence, structure, support, fitness or simply a positive environment to be part of. Many people join knowing nobody at all and quickly become part of the wider team environment through consistent training and shared experiences on the mats.
We are proud to support members of the Armed Forces, emergency services and those transitioning through difficult periods of life. Through programmes such as REORG and our Uniformed Services & College Development pathways, we aim to make martial arts accessible to people who can genuinely benefit from the structure, community and support that training provides.
The goal has never been to create a transactional gym environment. We want people to feel welcomed, respected and proud to represent the club regardless of whether they train recreationally, competitively or simply for personal development.
HOW PEOPLE TRAIN WITH US.
Praetorian MMA is structured to support people at different stages of their journey. Some members walk through the doors with years of experience, whilst others are stepping onto the mats for the very first time.
Our programmes are designed to create clear progression across different age groups, abilities and goals. Children and teenagers develop confidence, structure and technical foundations through age-appropriate sessions, whilst adults can train recreationally, improve fitness, learn martial arts properly or work towards competition if that is the direction they want to pursue.
We understand that not everybody joins for the same reason. Some members are looking for a supportive environment and routine. Some are preparing for careers within the military or emergency services. Others are returning to training after difficult periods in life and need the structure and community that martial arts can provide.
Whether someone trains once a week or fully immerses themselves in the timetable, the aim remains the same — provide an organised, respectful and professionally run environment where people can continue developing over the long term.
As the website continues to grow, dedicated pages for beginners, children’s training, teen development, adult programmes and competition pathways will be added to give greater detail on each area of the club.

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS.
We believe people train best in an environment that is organised, respectful and professionally run. Whether somebody is a parent bringing their child to class, an adult beginner stepping onto the mats for the first time or an experienced martial artist returning to training, they should feel comfortable in the environment they are walking into.
Structure matters. Communication matters. Behaviour matters. From safeguarding procedures and class supervision through to the way members conduct themselves inside the room, we place significant importance on creating a safe and positive training environment for everybody involved.
Our sessions are designed to be challenging whilst still remaining controlled and supportive. Members are encouraged to work hard, help one another and train responsibly regardless of experience level. Respect for training partners, coaches and the wider environment is expected throughout every class.
Alongside our martial arts programmes, we continue developing the wider systems surrounding the club including safeguarding policies, member communication, structured pathways, onboarding processes and coach accountability. We believe professionalism should exist both on and off the mats.
Trust is something that is built over time through consistency, behaviour and standards. That is why we continue focusing not only on the quality of the training itself, but also on the overall experience and environment people become part of when they join Praetorian MMA.
BEGIN YOUR JOURNEY.
Starting something new can feel intimidating, especially when it comes to martial arts. Most people who join Praetorian MMA have little to no previous experience and many arrive not knowing anybody else inside the room.
Our goal is to make the process as straightforward and welcoming as possible whilst still maintaining the standards and structure that define the club. Whether someone is joining as a complete beginner, returning to training after time away or looking for a more serious environment to develop within, we aim to help people settle in properly from day one.
New members can begin through our free trial system, structured pathway memberships or by speaking directly with the team to find the most suitable starting point based on age, experience and goals. We encourage people to ask questions, explore the timetable and take the time to find the programme that feels right for them.
Martial arts is a long-term journey. Progress takes time, consistency and patience, but everybody starts somewhere. The important part is simply taking the first step and giving yourself the opportunity to begin.

THE JOURNEY STARTS
WITH A SINGLE STEP.
Whether your goal is confidence, fitness, competition or personal growth, everybody starts somewhere.
