If you've spent any time around Praetorian MMA, there's a good chance you've already seen the work of 1D Printing.
From club hoodies and rashguards to teamwear, workwear and promotional products, 1D Printing has quietly become part of the fabric of the club, supporting our members, coaches, competitors and wider local community.
What many people don't realise is that 1D Printing existed before the gym. Long before Praetorian MMA had hundreds of members, a growing team of coaches and a website full of class pages, articles and pathways, the business was already helping companies, organisations and sports clubs create professional branding, personalised clothing and promotional products.
Today, the connection between the two businesses is clear. The same standards we expect on the mats are the same standards we want in our branding: consistency, professionalism, pride and attention to detail.
Where It Started
The business was originally purchased and developed by Martyn Styler, who recognised the value of helping businesses present themselves professionally whilst creating a company capable of supporting local organisations, clubs and projects.
Over the years, 1D Printing has grown into a trusted supplier of workwear, sportswear, branded clothing and promotional products.
What started as a small printing operation has evolved into a company supporting tradespeople, start-up businesses, established companies, sports clubs, schools, charities and community organisations throughout the local area.
Whether a customer requires a single personalised item or a complete branded clothing package, the goal remains the same: provide quality products, honest advice and excellent customer service.
That same approach is visible across Praetorian MMA. From the way our coaches present themselves on the Meet The Team page, to the way our members represent the club at competitions, seminars and open mats, presentation matters because it reflects standards.
The Person Behind The Day To Day Operation
Today, the day-to-day operation of the company is led by Kelly Sparks.
Many people within Praetorian MMA know Kelly through her role as the club's Safeguarding Officer, but her involvement extends far beyond that. She is heavily involved in the organisation, communication and administration that helps keep both 1D Printing and Praetorian MMA moving forward.
Her attention to detail, structure and commitment to helping customers have played a significant role in the growth of both businesses.
Like many people who first walk into a combat sports gym, Kelly never expected Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to become part of her life. However, after seeing first-hand the positive impact training had on others, she eventually stepped onto the mats and began her own journey.
For many women considering combat sports for the first time, Kelly's story is a reminder that everyone starts somewhere. You do not need previous experience. You do not need to be naturally athletic. You simply need the willingness to begin.
That is the same message we repeat throughout our wider beginner content, including Getting Started at Praetorian MMA, Your First Class at Praetorian MMA and BJJ, MMA or Kickboxing: Which Is Right For You?.

Supporting Athletes And Local Businesses
The connection between 1D Printing and Praetorian MMA extends beyond ownership and management.
The company regularly supports projects, events and athletes connected to the club.
One example is Josh Woodbourne, one of Praetorian MMA's coaches and active competitors, who has worked closely alongside 1D Printing on branded clothing, merchandise and promotional materials.
Josh is a good example of why this matters. As a coach, competitor and sponsored athlete, his presentation outside the gym is part of how he represents himself, the club and the wider standards expected from the team.
Supporting athletes and helping them present themselves professionally is something we are passionate about.
Whether it is creating teamwear, competition clothing, staff uniforms, branded merchandise, printed workwear or promotional products, we understand that presentation matters.
When people see your business, your team, your club or your organisation, you want them to see something that reflects the standards you work hard to maintain.
That is why branded clothing plays such an important role in the club as well. Whether someone is training in MMA, NoGi BJJ, Kids and Teens BJJ or representing Praetorian MMA at competition, the clothing becomes part of the shared identity.
Many of the hoodies, t-shirts and other products worn by members can be found through the Praetorian MMA Shop, where club clothing and merchandise are regularly updated throughout the year.
More Than Printing
Although the name is 1D Printing, the business is about more than putting logos onto clothing.
For many customers, especially small businesses and start-ups, ordering branded workwear can feel confusing. There are garment choices, logo positions, print methods, colours, sizing, quantities and budgets to think about.
That is why advice matters.
A good supplier should not simply take an order and print whatever is sent over. They should help customers make better choices, avoid mistakes and create something that looks professional when it is worn in the real world.
This is especially important for tradespeople, coaches, gyms, clubs, event teams and growing businesses. Your clothing is often one of the first things people notice. It can make a small business look more established, a sports club look more organised and a team feel more connected.
Working Around Our Customers
One thing that makes 1D Printing different is the way we operate.
Rather than working fixed opening hours, the business runs primarily on an appointment-based system. This allows us to spend dedicated one-to-one time understanding exactly what each customer needs and helping them find the right solution.
We also understand that ideas do not always arrive during normal business hours.
Whether you're finishing a late shift, planning a new business venture, organising clothing for your sports team or trying to sort branded kit around work and family life, inspiration can strike at any time.
That is why we encourage customers to reach out through WhatsApp whenever it suits them.
We may not reply immediately, but as soon as we're available, we'll respond and help move your project forward.
Part Of The Praetorian Community
1D Printing and Praetorian MMA are separate businesses, but there is a clear connection between them.
Both have grown through relationships, trust and word of mouth. Both rely on people coming back because they feel looked after. Both are built around practical support rather than empty sales talk.
For Praetorian MMA members, 1D Printing helps provide the kit and clothing that supports the club identity. For local businesses, it offers a personal, appointment-based service for branded clothing and promotional products.
That connection matters because it allows us to support people in more than one way. Someone might first come across us through the gym, the club articles, a coach page, a competition post, a 1D Printing order or a recommendation from another local business.
However they find us, the aim is the same: treat people properly, offer honest guidance and build something with long-term value.
